Palmetto Tang Soo Do
Last Updated: 12/9/02 |
Welcome Since Tang Soo Do is not a sport, athletic ability is not used as a measure of success. Each student is encouraged to learn at his or her own pace, with the goal of maximizing one's potential. Students attain a high degree of self-confidence through physical fitness, grace, poise and controlled self-defense; along with peace of mind, physical and mental discipline, and a sense of security.
Tang Soo Do (TSD) is an ancient Korean martial art, rooted in a more than 2,000-year-old tradition. TSD is a method of empty hand and foot, and weapon fighting based on the scientific use of the body in self-defense. As an art, TSD combines all aspects, such as an effort to live with developmental principles, defensive and offensive skills, handling weapons, developing power, and living a healthy and harmonious life, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The TSD practitioner's ultimate goal is the betterment of one's mind, body, and spirit and the development of individual character and respect for others. World Tang Soo Do Association (WTSDA), under the leadership and vision of Grandmaster Jae C. Shin, has grown to over 500 member studios with more than 100,000 members in 36 countries, spread over the 6 inhabited continents. Belt promotions are "Master Certified" thus enabling students to transfer their accomplishments to any member school throughout the world. Palmetto TSD, member studio of the WTSDA, emphasizes training guided by strong family values. Students of all ages and physical abilities train side by side. Our membership includes a high percentage of families thus giving parents an excellent opportunity to model core values to their children (e.g., self-control, self-discipline, perseverance, and respect). We at Palmetto TSD share - pride in our school, friendship, camaraderie, loyalty to one another, and a common goal of becoming the best we can be. [Top]
