Region # 7 Championship
The 2002 Region 7 Championship was held on Hilton Head Island, S.C. on November 2nd. The hosting studio was Sea Island Martial Arts, Mr. Don Grainger, Chief Instructor. There were 149 competitors and approximately 250 spectators.
The weekend began Friday night at 7:00 PM with Ki Gong training conducted by Kwan Chang Nim. Master Jeff St. James, Region 6 Director from Atlanta, Ga, was present also. The training , held in the Hotel Ballroom met full capacity. In attendance were Senior Gups and Black Belts from as far away as Williamsburg, Va. and Nashville, Tennessee The session was received very enthusiastically by those in attendance.
On Saturday morning everyone gathered at the Island's Recreation Center for the start of the Regional Championship. Jim Mars had returned from Korea with an Oriental drum, which Kwan Chang Nim used to lead the competitors in Hyungs, a few times.
Following Kwan Chang Nim's workout we had the Black Belt promotions from the fall testing cycle . Mr. Scott Elliot was awarded the fall testing cycles Spirit Award.

Instructor of the Year : Mrs. Ann Bowers
Studio of the Year : Tennessee Tang Soo Do
Student of the Year : Jeanette Godfrey
Family of the Year : The Dunn's
Parents of the Year : Mike and Lisa Slice
The Year 2002 Grand Champion trophy went to Mr. Scott Elliott from Scota Karate, Taylors, SC.
Region #7 raised $1200.00 from the Regional Championship toward Hdq Building Fund.
