Region 7 Fall 2009
Scholarship Results
Congratulations
to Brent Lacy who was awarded a scholarship of $1000 at the World Tang Soo Do
Association Region 7 Regional Tournament on November 6-7, 2009.
The deadline
for the Spring scholarship award cycle has passed. The applications are
currently under consideration and awards will be announced at the Region 7
Spring Tournament on May 15, 2010. Submissions for the Fall scholarship award
cycle are currently being accepted. The deadline is June 30, 2010 with awards
to be announced at our 2010 Regional Tournament, November 12-13, 2010.
The World
Tang Soo Do Foundation and Region 7 are dedicated in our support of continuing
education for our respective members. We
believe, very strongly, in giving back to our membership base via the
facilitation of a bi-annual scholarship award program. This program is open to all active members
who are pursuing undergraduate, graduate or doctorate programs.
Applications
for the bi-annual award cycles are due to the Region 7 Scholarship Chairperson
by June 30th and December 31st of each calendar year. Applications must be either received or post
marked by the dates above in order to be considered. Normally, Region 7 selects two award winners
per cycle period. In addition, the
Region 7 Board of Directors reserves the right to either increase or decrease
the number of scholarship award winners on a periodic basis.
Some of basic
criteria that students must have in order to be considered include, but are not
limited to the following:
-
Have completed at least one year of training at
your respective studio or club
-
Be a member in good standing with the WTSDA
-
Have a written letter of enrollment verification
from the college or university being attended
-
Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
Please
discuss the application process with your chief instructor. Application
documents can be downloaded by clicking this link. Finally, students are encouraged to apply
more than once as scholarship awards may be received by the same individual(s)
as they progress through the various continuing education programs listed
above.
